Editorial Policy

Independence

Mesh & Signal is owned and published by Magoo Media Group and funded by affiliate commissions. No manufacturer, retailer or affiliate network has any input into what appears here, how products are ranked, or what we say about them.

Concretely, the commitments that follow from that:

• Commission rates never affect ranking order. Where a cheaper product is the right answer for a situation, it is ranked first for that situation, and we say why.
• We do not accept payment for placement, inclusion, or a favorable conclusion. There is no sponsored content on this site, and if that ever changes it will be labeled unmistakably as such.
• We do not accept products in exchange for coverage. Since we do not run hands-on testing, there is nothing for a review unit to buy.
• We recommend buying nothing where that is the right answer. Several of our most-linked pages exist specifically to talk readers out of a purchase, which would be difficult to write if a sponsor were involved.

Sourcing standards

Every factual claim on this site falls into one of four buckets, and each is handled differently:

• A specification. Attributed to the manufacturer, and described as published rather than as measured. Manufacturer coverage figures are treated as comparisons within that brand's range, not as promises.
• A measurement. Attributed to the named independent outlet that took it, with a link. We do not reproduce other people's throughput figures as bare numbers, because a figure without its test conditions is misleading.
• A commercial fact — a rental fee, an approved-equipment list, a sunset date. Cited to a named source and dated in the text, because these change and because published sources frequently disagree. Where they disagree, we give the range and say so rather than picking one and presenting it as universal.
• A mechanism or a rule of thumb. Explained rather than asserted, and explicitly flagged as a rule of thumb where it is one. Our wall-attenuation orderings, for example, are presented as an ordering to reason with rather than a table to calculate from.

Every page that carries any of the first three has a Sources section at the bottom listing what we used. The limits of what we will assert are set out in full on our methodology page.

What we will never publish

• A test result we did not obtain. We do not run a lab and we never imply that we do.
• An invented review, rating, review count or testimonial. This site has no testimonials section for exactly this reason: we have no verified reader reviews to publish, so we publish none.
• A price we cannot verify. The button says "check price" instead.
• An invented product identifier. Every product link is built from a verified model name.
• Manufactured urgency. No countdowns, no stock warnings, no limited-time framing. We do not control inventory.
• A credential the author does not hold. No certifications, no "our expert panel", no implied professional qualifications.

Corrections

If a page here is wrong, we want to hear about it and we will fix it. Email contact@meshandsignal.com or use the contact form, and include the page and what is wrong with it.

How we handle it:

• A factual error is corrected as soon as we can confirm the correct information, and the page's last-updated date changes.
• A substantive correction — one that changes a recommendation or a conclusion — is noted on the page itself, not silently edited. A reader who acted on the old advice deserves to know it changed.
• A typo or a clarity fix is simply corrected without a note.
• A product that is discontinued is removed or replaced, and the page is re-ranked rather than left with a dead recommendation at the top.

How often pages are revisited

The cadence is driven by how fast the underlying facts move, not by a content calendar:

• Product roundups — reviewed when a named product is discontinued or superseded, and at least twice a year regardless.
• Provider pages — the fastest-moving content on the site, because equipment fees, plan tiers and approved-equipment lists all change. Reviewed whenever we become aware of a change, and the figures carry their source and date so you can see how old they are.
• Diagnostic and explainer pages — the physics does not change, so these are revisited when a new standard or a new class of product alters the practical advice.
• Every page — carries a visible last-updated date, so you can judge for yourself whether it is current.

Authorship

Every article, roundup and guide on this site is written by one named person, and the byline is real rather than a house name. There is no ghostwriting pool and no unattributed content. Details on the about page.

Affiliate links

Outbound commercial links are marked as sponsored links in the page markup, as Google's policies require, and every page carrying them shows a disclosure above the first one rather than buried at the foot of the page. Full detail on the affiliate disclosure page.
