Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Mesh & Signal (meshandsignal.com), published by Magoo Media Group, handles information about visitors. It is written to be read rather than to be impressive.

What we do not do

Worth stating first, because it is most of the policy:

• We do not have user accounts, so there is nothing to log in to.
• We do not sell anything directly, so we never see payment details.
• We do not sell, rent or trade any information about visitors.
• We do not run advertising networks or behavioral ad trackers.
• We do not have a newsletter or mailing list at present.
• We do not ask for or store your address, phone number, or any financial information.

What we collect, and why

The contact form

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive the name, email address and message you send. We use them only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct a page you told us about. Messages arrive in a normal email inbox and are kept for as long as is useful for correspondence and corrections. They are never added to a marketing list, because we do not have one.

The form includes three anti-spam measures: a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in, a timing check, and a per-address rate limit. These process the submission itself and the network address it came from; they do not build a profile of you.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and how people arrive. It records things like the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and whether you clicked an outbound product link. We use it in aggregate — to know that a page is helping or not helping — and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes data on Google's infrastructure under their own terms. If you would rather not be included, any standard browser content blocker or Google's own opt-out browser add-on will prevent it from loading, and the site works identically without it.

One analytics event is worth naming specifically: when you click a product link, we record that a click happened, which merchant it went to and which page it came from. That is how we know which recommendations are useful. It does not identify you and it does not follow you to the retailer.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain and then to the retailer. The retailer — currently Amazon — may set cookies to attribute a purchase to us, under their own privacy policy, which we do not control. We do not receive any information about what you bought, who you are, or anything else about your session with them. We receive only aggregate commission reporting.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by a commercial hosting provider which, like all web hosts, processes standard technical request information — network address, requested page, timestamp, browser identifier — in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. This is ordinary server operation rather than something we analyze.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. The cookies that exist on this site come from Google Analytics, and from the retailer if you follow a product link. Blocking or clearing them has no effect on the site's function — there is no logged-in state or saved preference to lose.

Children

This site is written for adults buying home networking equipment and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Your choices

• Analytics: block it with a content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on. Nothing on the site depends on it.
• Affiliate cookies: block third-party cookies, or visit the retailer directly instead of through our link.
• Your contact-form message: email us and we will delete the correspondence.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over information held about you — to see it, correct it, or have it deleted. Since the only information we hold that could identify you is an email you chose to send us, exercising those rights is usually a single email away.

Changes to this policy

If we add a service that changes what is collected — a newsletter, for instance — this page will be updated before it launches and the date at the top will change. We will not add advertising networks or behavioral tracking.
